LaseMD Ultra Vs. Microneedling

What is LaseMD Ultra?

LaseMD Ultra is a non-invasive, advanced skin resurfacing treatment designed to address a variety of skin concerns. LaseMD Ultra uses a combination of laser energy and microchanneling technology. The laser penetrates the skin’s surface, targeting pigmentation and stimulating collagen production. The microchanneling creates tiny channels that help to deliver active serums directly into the skin, enhancing the treatment’s effects and accelerating skin healing.

LaseMD Ultra is effective for treating a range of skin concerns, including:

  • Hyperpigmentation (e.g., age spots, sun spots, melasma)

  • Fine lines and wrinkles

  • Skin texture irregularities

  • Acne scars and other types of scarring

  • Sun damage

  • Uneven skin tone

Downtime: Mild redness and swelling similar to a mild sunburn. This typically lasts for a few hours to a few days. You may see some brown speckles or experience slight flaking for up to a week as the skin heals. It is important to stay out of direct sun for at least 2 weeks after your treatment to prevent pigmentation issues.

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling uses a device with fine needles to create micro-injuries in the skin, which triggers your body’s natural healing response and collagen production.

1. SkinPen Microneedling

  • Acne scars

  • Large pores

  • Fine lines

  • Skin texture

Downtime: Mild redness for 1–2 days. Most people feel comfortable going back to normal activities the next day.

2. SkinPen Microneedling with PRP

This adds platelet-rich plasma (drawn from your own blood) to the procedure. PRP is rich in growth factors, which may speed healing and amplify collagen production.

Downtime: Similar to regular microneedling, but healing may be quicker due to the PRP.

3. RF Microneedling

This method combines microneedling with radiofrequency energy, delivering heat deeper into the dermis to tighten and lift the skin.

  • Mild to moderate skin laxity

  • Fine lines and wrinkles

  • Acne scars

  • Neck and jawline tightening

Downtime: More redness and swelling than traditional microneedling (about 2–4 days).

In some cases, LaseMD Ultra and microneedling can even be combined in a treatment plan to maximize results, especially for patients targeting both pigment and texture.
