Eczema & Dermatitis

Types of dermatitis include:

• Atopic dermatitis (flare-ups may be due to a variety of things such as genetics, weather, immune system, etc.)
• Photosensitive dermatitis (flare-ups occur after sun exposure)
• Allergic contact dermatitis (flare-ups due to topical allergen)
• Drug-induced dermatitis

Dermatitis may be acute or chronic depending on its root cause.

Dermatitis may be diagnosed based on physical symptoms and appearance of skin, biopsy, or allergen patch testing. There are a variety of oral and topical medications that may be used to treat dermatitis.
